Robbie Lawler Biography: Robert Lawler is a professional MMA fighter from the United States who has competed since 2001. He’s previously been a part of Strikeforce, PRIDE, and the IFL and was an ex- UFC Welterweight Champion and EliteXC Middleweight Champion. He is often referred to by the name “Ruthless” because of his brutal style of fighting.

Robbie Lawler was born on March 20, 1982, in San Diego, California. At the age of ten old, he relocated from Bettendorf, Iowa, to stay with his father, who was a member of the Marine Corps. Lawler began his taekwondo lessons at age 8 and Karate two years later.

Lawler has graduated from Bettendorf High School, where Lawler was named All-State for wrestling as well as All-Conference for football. Pat Miletich took Lawler under his wing at 16 years old. Lawler began his practicing at Miletich Fighting Systems as soon when he graduated in the year 2000.

Lawler was able to make the UFC debut against seasoned Aaron Riley at UFC 37. Lawler was crowned winner by a unanimity. Lawler was back in action the next months at UFC 37.5 beating Steve Berger by TKO. In UFC 40, Lawler met another veteran, Tiki Ghosn, and was victorious in a highlight reel knockout. Lawler was later matched against Pete Spratt at UFC 42 but was defeated by submission due to knee injuries. Lawler was victorious in a majority vote over fellow wrestling and boxing professional Chris Lytle at UFC 45.

Lawler fights his former WEC World Champion and future long-time Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nick Diaz in his second UFC fight at UFC 47. The fight ended in the 2nd round. Lawler lost his debut loss in a knockout during his professional career. Lawler was then beaten again during UFC 50 to the late Evan Tanner, who would be victorious in his first UFC Middleweight Championship in the following fight.

On the 29th of August 20th, 2020 Lawler was up against Neil Magny, who replaced Geoff Neal, at UFC Fight Night 175. A unanimous decision defeated him. Lawler had been scheduled to fight Mike Perry at UFC 255 on November 21 in 2020. Lawler was forced out of the fight due to an injury.

Lawler will be battling veterans Nick Diaz in a rematch at UFC 266 on the 25th of September 2021. The bout was a five-round, memorable fight, which was non-main event and not title-related at middleweight. Lawler was knocked Diaz off the mat in the 3rd round when Diaz refused to follow the official’s instructions to step up on his feet. The result was that Lawler became the victor by TKO.
