WHY UPCOMING ARTISTES SHOULD ADD A PAID HUSTLE

MENTALITY

Nigerian upcoming artistes are being dragged back with a very bad mentality. I have met a couple of them with the opinion that as long as they tag themselves the name “Artistes”, automatically, every other thing should be added and life should be easy. A lot of these folks need to be made to understand that, music is a business and a really serious one at that for any level. Most young talented music artiste in Nigeria is already engulfed in pride and lack of humility even for his/her fellow artiste. It is very unbecoming but that is not even the subject matter of the day.

It is not hard to see over the internet where most of these so called artistes are complaining about things like bloggers not helping them post for free, how hard it is to get airplay, the cost of studio session and so on. The people you complain about at some point hustled for capital and you were not around to know how or what pain they went through, for the sake of continuity you need to pay them. Fact is, this line you got yourself in is for the smart, and people with both street and formal wisdom. You need to learn to be coordinated and you also have to train yourself in the area of management. Most importantly you need to get a hustle MAINLY for the pursuit of your dreams.

GET YOURS

It is very absurd to lash out over people not using their own businesses to run a charity program for you, why would you as an artiste not pay for services rendered to you? Kicking off, music might not pay you financially in the initial stage except you get lucky and get someone or a label who picks you up but a luck like that does not come by everyday, so to keep the so-called dignity and respect you’re clamoring for, you have to get your ass a job or something that would make you money to do little things for your self and your music career and stop being a cry baby over people not helping you as they have their own life and problems to deal with.

Not having your own money makes you lose value and self worth, you need to keep your personality packaged for you do not know who is watching, you either turn them on or off by your appearance because a very important aspect of the business is your looks, do everything to look nice at all time. You don’t wanna come out on the internet to complain about the boutique guy not giving you free designer clothes and shoes.

Subsequent posts on this blog will guide you through how you can manage yourself as an upcoming artiste, organize and move your self higher in the chain. Progress sometimes can be a slow process but for the wise and strong hearted, anything is possible.
