Major Lazer (Origin Miami, Florida, U.S. 2008) is an internationally acclaimed American music group that consists of composers, singers, songwriters as well as record producers and DJs.

A DJ duo in the United States called Major Lazer is comprised of Diplo, a producer of records, Walshy Fire, and Ape Drums both DJs. Diplo as well as Switch created the company the company in Kingston, Jamaica, in the year 2008. Switch was a company that went out of business in 2011 after a period of three years.

Walshy Fire is one of the renowned Jamaican disc jockeys who was born on November 25, 1982. He was born in Orlando, Florida, United States. On the other side, Ape Drums is a talented American DJ born on the 28th of June, 1990 in Houston, Texas, United States.

The former bandmate, Switch, is a multi-faceted English DJ musician, songwriter, sound engineer, and record producer born in London, United Kingdom.

The group also incorporated famous Trinidadian music and DJ Jillionaire who was born April 3, 1978, on the island of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Career

Diplo Jillionaire, Diplo, and Walshy Fire comprise Major Lazer’s electronic music collective that hails from across the United States. After they collaborated together with M.I.A., Diplo, and Switch came together and decided to create the group. They blend reggae, dancehall, and reggaeton as well as house and moombahton to create music, that spans several genres.

In June 2009 the duo’s debut record, Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do was released.

Through Downtown Records. The album, made in Jamaica’s Tuff Gong Studio also included extra tracks from Afrojack and Crookers and featured the voices of a variety of famous musicians, such as Santigold Vybz Cardell, Ward 21, Busy Signal, Nina Sky, Amanda Blank, and Mr. Vegas.

As per Diplo, Switch finally quit the group at the end of 2011 due to disagreements with the creative team, and Jillionaire along with Walshy Fire was brought in to take his place. They were extremely active throughout the calendar in 2012. In addition to being involved alongside Rita Ora on her debut album Ora and No Doubt on their Push and Shove, they were making plans for their next album, which will eventually be titled Free the Universe, and an autumn tour.

Major Lazer announced the release of the album Free the Universe will come out in April the same year following their signing with an independent recording label Secretly Canadian. They held a spring tour to promote it.

The group resurfaced with a brand new album titled Peace Is the Mission album.

The top spot in the Billboard Hot 100 was No. 4 despite Rihanna as well as Nicki Minaj initially receiving the song but deciding to decline it. It also rose to become the 8th top-most watched YouTube video YouTube with over 1.5 billion views. It was also the most popular ever on Spotify.

In 2016, Major Lazer previewed their upcoming album, Cold Water, featuring Justin Bieber, which has been confirmed as called Music Is the Weapon. Prior to joining Jack U the other band, which included Skrillex, Diplo collaborated with the Canadian beauty.

The chart performance of Cold Water was more impressive. The single, released in July of last year, came out at the number. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.

FXX debuts as a Major Lazer animated series on the 16th of April, 2015.
