Don Jazzy (born Michael Collins Ajereh) is an international star in the Nigerian music industry.
Presently in charge of the company’s CEO, Mavin Records along with the founder of Mo’Hits Records, Don Jazzy works as a music producer audio engineer, singer, and music writer.
He was a household name after his albums like the No Long Thing along with Funk Up/Rundown. He also has worked with musicians such as D’Banj, Sauce Kid (Sinzu), Dr. SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince, Jay-Z, and Kanye West over a long and prolific career.
On April 3rd, 2021 The Nigerian music producer caused controversy on social media following the posting of photos of his ex-wife, who was married in 2001 when he was in London.
Michael Collins Ajereh a.k.a Don Jazzy was born in Unmuahia, Abia State, in the household of the late Mrs. and Mrs. Collins Enebeli Ajereh on 26th November 1982. He was the son of an indigenous from the Isoko tribe of Delta State while his mother was an Igbo princess from Abia State.
Don Jazzy was raised by the older brother Charles Enebeli (popularly known as “D’Prince) located at Ajegunle, Lagos State, following the move of his parents westward in the latter part of the 1980s. At that time he was a fan of music and soon began learning to perform the bass guitar as well as piano. He also was known for his ability to play traditional instruments and percussion.
The award-winning music producer was struggling when he was a child in the Ajegunle location. It took him several years to adjust to life in the city, following the move from Abia State.
At the beginning of the millennium, Don Jazzy was offered the opportunity to travel abroad, following his uncle who asked him to play drums in the chapel in London. In the end, he was offered the position of a security guard at McDonald’s and also formed valuable partnerships with musicians like Solek, JJC, Kas, Jesse Jagz, The 419 Squad as well as the D’Banj.
Don Jazzy began and completed his primary schooling at Ajegunle situated in Lagos State, before enrolling at Federal Government College, Lagos. While in school, he took part in the school’s music club and made the most of his time off.
After completing the Secondary School Certificates at the senior and junior level, Don Jazzy secured admission to pursue a degree in Business Management at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state.

With a wealth of experience in audio engineering as well as recording, the producer was able to be featured in backing vocals on tracks by D’Banj, Sauce Kid, Dr. SID, Ikechukwu, Kween, D’Prince, and Jay-Z and gained International recognition for his work as a producer on Very Good Beatz for Kanye West in 2011. He also collaborated in collaboration with Jay-Z during that time. Then, in March 2012, the duo of Don Jazzy and D’Banj decided to split up because of differences in their artistic style.
On May 7th, 2012. Don Jazzy created a record label of his own, Mavin Records which released an album that featured all artists signed by the label. Songs on the album include Amarachi, Oma Ga, Take Banana and Chocolate, YOLO and finally, then it was the MAVIN song.. MAVIN also signed the talented singer-songwriter, Tiwa Savage.
On the 7th November on the 7th of November, 2013 Wande Coal quit Mavin Records after a dispute between her and Ajereh Ajereh, who was a part of the group two days earlier. Reekado Banks also quit the company a couple of years later. In the past, Mavin Records signed Ayra Starr who is a young talented female musician. Mavin has also signed Magixx along with Boy Spice.
