Violence in Mararaba land dispute claims 3 lives
Not fewer than 3 persons are feared dead at the Aso B Mararaba neighbourhood in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on the outskirts of the Federal Capital Territory.
Traditional ruler of the area, Danladi Kwabushi who confirmed the incident said, the violence and killings were as a result of land dispute between the Hausa and Gbagyi people in the community with the matter already before the court.
In the early hours of Saturday, the peaceful atmosphere in the community was disrupted as residents were seen running for their lives.
Kwabushi told AIT that the Gbagyi and Hausa in the area are claiming an entire area called Ado Azunu in Mararaba which led to the attack resulting in the deaths of the 3 persons.
Shops and business activities in the area were also disrupted as they were shut down for fear of the unknown.
Security operatives were later seen in the area trying to calm the situation.
