Shayon Brown (born 5 October 1996) popularly known by her stage name Shaybo or dubbed “The Queen of the South,” is a Nigerian-born English rapper. She grew up in Abuja the capital of Nigeria before her family relocated to London at the age of six. She began to make music while a part of a musical group when she was 14 however, she grew into a social worker. When she realized that she wanted to dedicate her life to the things she was passionate about then she left her job as a social worker and began making music once more, committing all of her time and energy to sing and rapping.
Shaybo has released a mixtape titled The Queen of the South. The mixtapes are accompanied by a range of singles that include songs that are performed by Shaybo herself, as and those with other rappers and singers who hail from the US, UK, and Nigeria alike.

Shaybo’s career started when she was just 15 years old. She would perform freestyles with her friends and music collaborators, usually in the Piccadilly Circus with her pals. “Shay’bo Freestyle, “Shay’bo Freestyle” was a video she created with her pals during the cold winter months of 2011 which went viral. The beginning of her professional career. She frequently collaborated with musicians Dumpz & Ratz, who were also good friends. Dumpz was later able to play professionally in football.

After this break, Brown’s first single was released “Ya Dun Know” which has been a massive success and made her announce her return to the music industry. Soon after, Brown released her next single “Anger” in February 2020.
In the years that Brown released music more often, she earned an abundance of praise and praise for her unique voice and contributions to the hip-hop movement in the UK. But, as her career took off COVID-19 started to expand rapidly, leading to global locks. It ultimately ruined any plans Brown had for her career in the foreseeable future. Brown eventually adapted to the new situation in her music release schedule. In the summer of 2000, Brown performed her Daily Duppy song for GRMDaily and also released two songs: Dobale and Come for Shay with Snap Capone.
Brown released her debut mixtape on August 20, 2021. Brown called the mixtape Queen of the South after having watched the TV show with the same title, which revolves around a woman named Teresa Mendoza. The inspiration came from the main character, who according to her, “started off naive, and then she managed to overcome her pain and her trauma and become a strong woman who’s very strong-willed, and who knows how to sit in a room full of men and still get her point across. The opening single from the Mixtape Queen of the South, “Broke Boyz (feat. DreamDoll),” was then followed by the additional singles “Mud,” “Friendly (feat. Haile),” and “My Sister (feat. Jorja Smith).”

Shaybo nearly gave up music when she was an unruly teenager. “When I used to do music, I used to be, in a way, a delinquent. I used to get in trouble a lot — into fights a lot — but I just felt like I was misunderstood. I felt like I couldn’t articulate myself. I went into music because it’s a way of expressing how I feel,” Shaybo declares. Because of this issue, her parents advised that she should explore different avenues. Thus, she attended University where she studied social work. In her time at the university, she assisted victims of the Grenfell Tower fire, vulnerable children, and victims of domestic violence.
When she was working in the presence of Grenfell Tower survivors, she was waiting to be interviewed when a woman asked her, “What are you doing here? You seem like you’re destined to be a star.” It was a memorable moment for Brown. Although she was fulfilled helping others in the field of social work, Brown wanted to spend her entire life doing what she enjoyed. This act of self-recognition ignited her musical path.
As a child, Shaybo was a tomboy who would always rap with the boys at her school. During the lunch break and free time, she would compete with her peers in a contest of freestyle.
