Odsonne Edouard was born on the 16th of January, 1998. an French professional soccer player who is playing the position of forward at Premier League club Crystal Palace.

After advancing through the ranks of youth at AF Bobigny Edouard was signed by Paris Saint-Germain in July of 2011 prior to being transferred to fellow Ligue 1 side Toulouse for the 2016-17 season. In the following season after that, he was loaned out to Celtic which was where he took home the domestic treble before signing with them as a permanent player at a record-breaking club price.

He has also played for France at various levels for youth and was a pivotal player for France in the 2014 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, which he was awarded two awards: the Golden Player and Golden Boot award.

Edouard is a native of Kourou, French Guiana. He was a part of in the Paris Saint-Germain Academy in 2011 after a stint with amateur club AF Bobigny. The first notable achievement was in the 2013-14 season, during which he was the top goal scorer of the club at the U17 age group, scoring 25 goals in his 22 appearances at the U17 National Championship. In 14 league matches for the U17s during the next season, and was a part of the team that took home the Al Kass Cup, ending the tournament with a resounding score of three goals in five games. The club also had him as a player in its U19 team, taking part in the two UEFA Youth League matches, the Coupe Gambardella match and seven U19 Championship matches during which there were seven goals scored. In just two years He recorded more than 60 goals in the club’s youth team and earned the nicknames “The Rocket” and “Magic Odsonne“.

In the 2015-16 campaign, Edouard played with both the U19 team and CFA team. In January of 2016 Edouard won his first Titi d’Or, an award that is voted by supporters of the club to be the top academy player of an entire season. It was awarded to players like Kingsley Coman and Jean-Kevin Augustin during previous seasons. PSG also reached the Youth League final but were defeated 2-1 by Chelsea. Edouard was a goal scorer and scored three assists during the match.

On the 27th of April, 2016 he signed an official contract with Paris Saint-Germain’s team’s senior side. The 2016-17 pre-season was when Edouard was named in the PSG team of the 2016 International Champions Cup. After having previously played as an extra, he was brought into the game in the final minute of the match of the game against Leicester and scored on his debut in the non-competitive game and made it 4-0 during the final moments of the final International Champions Cup game. In the wake of this win, PSG were crowned International Champions Cup champions.

Loan to Toulouse

On August 8, 2016, Edouard was signed by Toulouse on an all-season loan. The Frenchman made debut for Toulouse on August 14, 2016 in Marseille and was substituted by Issiaga Sylla at 74 minutes of the 0-0 draw at home. Edouard was the first player to score a goal in professional football on the 19th of November against Metz and scored a consolation goal in extra time during an 1-0 home defeat.

On the 30th of March, 2017 Edouard was accused of having fired at a pedestrian with an airsoft weapon on the 11th of February, wounding him on the head. In the aftermath of his actions, the player received a questioning by the police as well as his contract was subsequently cancelled by Toulouse. In the period prior to the cancellation of his loan, Edouard had made 17 appearances and scored a goal for Toulouse. It was later discovered that his co-player, Mathieu Cafaro, had admitted to being the person who opened the fire. Cafaro was later able to retract his statement however, and on June 13, the prosecutor in Toulouse demanded to Edouard be sentenced to a four month suspended sentence in prison and an amount of EUR6,000 in fines for his part with the incident. Edouard asserted the fact that Cafaro fired the gun while Cafaro claimed that he was not been inside the vehicle at the moment of the shooting. On July 4, Edouard was sentenced to four months of suspended prison term in the Correctional Court of Toulouse. He was also required to pay an amount of EUR6,000 in damages in addition to damages of €2,600 to the victim to cover the injuries to his ears.

Celtic

Edouard joined Scottish Premiership club Celtic on 31 August 2017 for an all-season loan. He scored his debut at home to Hamilton Academical on 8 September and helped Celtic to win 4-1. The following year 2 December the striker scored his first hat-trick during a 5-1 victory against Motherwell in Celtic Park. It was the UEFA Champions League debut three days later, appearing as a substitute for fellow compatriot Moussa Dembele in a defeat in the group stage to Anderlecht.

On March 11, 2018 He scored the winner during the final minute in a 3-2 victory against opponents Rangers in Ibrox Stadium, and on 29 April, he scored two scores in the 5-0 triumph against the same opponent to secure the club’s seventh consecutive league championship. He played 29 times throughout the season and scored 11 times in the process as Celtic finished a domestic triple.

Season 2018-19

On June 15, 2018, Edouard signed a four-year deal in the club of Celtic for a price Celtic claimed was the most expensive ever in their history. The sum would have to be higher than the PS6 million the club agreed to pay for Chris Sutton and John Hartson in 2000 and 2001 respectively. Sources estimate that it was more than PS8 million. In the following month, Edouard was selected as one of the 100 shortlists of the 2018 Golden Boy award; he was the sole footballer within Scotland to be named for the honour. In his debut game of the season Edouard scored the opener in a 3-0 victory over Alashkert in the opening qualification round for the 2018-19 UEFA Champions League. Edouard continued to score throughout the second round, scoring twice in a 3-1 win over Rosenborg in Celtic Park with manager Brendan Rodgers declaring him a top striker after his performances.

2020-21 season

During his four years of stay, he took part in at least 179 games across every competition and scored 88 goals. He won his club the Scottish Premiership on three occasions and the Scottish Cup twice and Scottish League Cup twice.

Crystal Palace

On the 31st of August, 2021 the day of the deadline for transfers, Edouard signed for Premier League club Crystal Palace on a four-year contract. The first time he played was on the 11th of September, with a 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur, when he was substituted for Christian Benteke in the 84th minute and scored two goals.

International career

Following his outstanding performance at the club level, Edouard was picked Coach Jean-Claude Guitini his team for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship, which France won with 15 goals, and only conceding two goals. Edouard was named the Gold Player and top goal scorer having scored eight out of the fifteen goals in five games an all-time record in the tournament. He scored the match-winning goal in the final match against Germany.

In 2017 when he was in the course of a the loan of Toulouse, Edouard was convicted of assault using weapons, after the man shot a passer-by using an air rifle from his car which left him deaf. Edouard was required to pay damages of EUR 24,000 that were not paid as 2021. Furthermore, Edouard received a four-month suspended sentence.
