Buhari vs Atiku: 40 political parties speak on Zamfara election result
A total of 40 political parties in Zamfara State have lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies on the credible handling of the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
Speaking to newsmen after a meeting to assess the elections on Tuesday in Gusau, Mallam Shehu Hussaini, the state chairman of Hope Democratic Party (HDP), also the spokesman of the parties, said that 40 out of 46 parties in the state, met on the issues and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the last elections.
Hussaini said after careful review of the whole exercise, the leadership of the political parties commended INEC and security agencies for doing a good job.
“Considering the situation in the state, we appreciate their efforts in overseeing the conduct of peaceful and acceptable elections without the loss of lives in the state.
“We laud the courage of the Resident Electoral Commissioner and other personnel in the commission for exhibiting their talents and dedication to carry out a transparent election despite the security challenges in the state,” he said.
Hussaini said members of the political parties would continue to live up to expectations and preach peace and harmony during Saturday governorship and state assembly elections.
He said the meeting advised political parties to always avoid anything that would endanger the country’s nascent democracy.
“Let us be sincere to ourselves, our affairs and intermingling with other people should be free, fair and understandable”.
According to him, presence of security agencies in all the wards and poling units has indicated that security personnel are equal to the task and ready to protect lives and property of every citizen.
He then called on all people in the state to continue praying for peaceful elections and mutual coexistence among all residents.
