Early Life and Career
Rose Namajunas got early into combat sports, having started Taekwondo at age five. She earned her black belt junior at the age of nine. In addition, Rose would also study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as karate.
Namajunas began in MMA during her high school years and made her debut as an amateur fighter in the year the year 2010. Rose Namajunas was signed in December 2013 by the UFC to be a part of The 20th Season of Ultimate Fighter that would crown the first-ever UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. Rose came in as the fourth selection on team Melendez and was unbeaten until the final, where she fell against Carla Esparza for the title.

Rose Namajunas would make her UFC debut at UFC 192 where she would defeat Angela Hill via Submission(rear-naked choke) in the first round. Rose followed this up by securing victories on Page VanZant and Tecia Torres before falling to Karolina Kowalkiewicz UFC 201. Rose was able to bounce back after beating Michelle Waterson at UFC ON Fox 24 to secure a flyweight title shot with the then champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Namajunas would beat Joanna during UFC 217 to be her new UFC women’s flyweight champion. She was able to beat Joanna during UFC 223 to retain her title.
The title reign would prove only for a short time because Rose lost the title at UFC 237 to Jessica Andrade via KO(slam) in the second round. She would seek revenge by defeating Andrade in UFC 251 and would get an opportunity to fight for the flyweight title against Weili Zhang following her victory. Namajunas would take on Zhang in UFC 261 and defeat Weili by an head Kick Ko during the opening round, becoming the first two-time UFC Female Flyweight Champion.
