Yvonne Nelson (born 12 November 1985) is a well-known Ghanaian model, actress as well as film producer as well as businesswoman, and philanthropist.

Before traveling to Nigeria in 2007 to film her first film together with Genvieve Nnaji She produced five other films. Her first big part on screen is Princess Tyra.

Yvonne Nelson has in the past worked tirelessly to make herself a household actor in the film industry and launch her professional career with Nollywood.

Yvonne Nelson was born in Accra, Ghana, on November 12th the 12th of November, 1985. She hails from Ghana’s Cape Coast. The couple that she was born to be. O. Nelson (father) and Margaret Gaddy (mother).

She went to Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in Accra before beginning her education at St. Martin De Porres School in Accra, Ghana.

Yvonne Nelson attended Central University College in Ghana after she completed her primary and secondary schooling there, where she graduated with an associate’s bachelor’s degree in management of human resources.

She was a contestant in the infamous Miss Ghana pageant in 2005. However, she failed to be crowned.

Yvonne Nelson began going to auditions for films at the movie auditions in Ghana in 2000 when she started an acting career. The actress became famous in 2007 for her role as the lead role in the hugely popular Ghanaian movie Princess Tyra. After achieving the success of the film Princess Tyra she traveled across Nigeria for filming five more films that helped to launch her career in Nollywood and established her as an internationally recognized persona.

Crime to Christ, Princess Tyra, Passion of the Soul, Plan B, Tears of Womanhood, etc. These are only some of the over 100 films in that Yvonne Nelson has appeared as an actress.

After her successes as an actress, Yvonne Nelson made the decision to make her debut movie, The Price in the year 2011. The following year she released Married the Year After. She won the Best Picture Award at the Ghana Movie Awards and the City Peoples Entertainment Awards’ Best Ghanaian Movie in Nigeria in 2013.

She created The Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation in 2010 through which she raises awareness of the chronic diseases which affect our lives every day. The foundation’s charitable work also helps the most in need, specifically those with physical disabilities and less fortunate.

She created an all-star charity single and made a short video with the help of other Ghanaian celebrities to help spread awareness about deadly illnesses.

Yvonne Nelson received honors in 2013 from GoWoman Magazine and Printex in 2013 for her achievements in her film career as well as her work with the Glaucoma Foundation. She has made it her goal to join forces with other Ghanaian stars and the general public to protect the nation’s electric power crisis.
