Raoul John Njeng-Njeng (born 1 April 1991) professionally known by the name of Skales is a talented Nigerian singer, rapper, and songwriter.
In 2000, the rapper began making rap music at Kaduna, Nigeria. From 2007 to 2008 He traveled across the country to Jos to perform alongside Jesse Jagz and Jeremiah Gyang.
The year 2008 was the first time he entered his first Zain Tru Search competition and took home the contest’s North Central region. The first track ” Must Shine” was featured on numerous reels on Rhythm FM stations in Lagos, Jos, and Abuja. He then relocated to Lagos and signed a recording contract with Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E) in 2009.
Skales has collaborated with many artists, such as Akon, eLDee, Tekno, Harmonize, Jeremiah Gyang, Banky W, and Knighthouse. His most well-known songs of his include “Shake Body”, “Mukulu”, “Keresimesi”, “Komole”, “My Baby”, “Take Care of Me,” and “Denge Pose”.
After he left E.M.E In May 2014, the singer decided to set up the OHK Music label on his own. OHK music recording label. The album that he released as his debut record album Man of the Year was released in the year 2015.

Skales The Skales, who is from Edo State origin, was solely cared for by his mother who was a non-skilled worker. His birth date was the first day of April 1991, in Jos, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
As a child, her mother was a rapper. She had an audio store that was the first store where Skalesdeveloped a passion for music.
Skaleshad his higher studies at the University of Jos and at the Lead City University in Ibadan. According to his records, Skales resigned from the University of Jos in his senior year. He then was able to graduate from Lead City University with an undergraduate degree in Technology and Office Management and Technology.

Skalesbecame fascinated by music when frequenting his mother’s cassette store. He met the producers Jeremiah Gyang and Jesse Jagz when he was at an institution called the University of Jos (UNIJOS). He participated in the Zain Tru Search Competition at Unijos and took the top prize in the contest’s North Central region.
Skalesleft UNIJOS in his junior year to attend Lead City University and graduated with a degree in the field of office administration and information technology. The first single ” Must Shine” was released to praise from the critics.
In an interview conducted by This Day newspaper in 2013, Skalesdescribed himself as an entertainer whose music is inspired by his surroundings. The album he released in 2009 ” Heading for a Grammy” was influenced by Kanye West‘s ” Jesus Walks“. The struggles he went through helped to shape the concept of the song which is a song about self-confidence.
Skales signed a record contract in partnership with E.M.Eafter meeting Banky W in 2009. He released his songs ” Mukulu” and ” Keresimesi” simultaneously. Both songs were written by Sarz and released under the label. The video music for the last track was produced by Clarence Peters and posted to YouTube on November 28, 2011.
Skaleswas one of the major artists in E.M.E.’s debut record, Empire Mates State of Mind (2012). He worked with Banky W, Wizkid, Shaydee, Niyola, and DJ Xclusive on five of the album’s seven singles. He also performed some of the above-mentioned acts as part of the EME US Tour, which began on July 4 and concluded on the 2nd of September 2012.
E.M.E performances were held in various cities which included Houston, Dallas, Toronto, Vancouver, New York City, Providence, Calgary, Atlanta, Washington DC and Chicago. Skalessupported Wizkid during his tour through London at the end of 2012. On October 17, 2013, he was a guest during the event Felabration which is an annual concert that is dedicating itself to Fela Kuti…
The month of February was when Vanguard magazine reported Skalesleft E.M.E after the end of his four-year recording contract. E.M.E executives felt that they were not receiving a fair amount for investing in him, and decided to not extend his contract.
Then, in May of 2014 Skalesestablished his own label for records, OHK Music. The label houses DJ Drey Beatz and has relationships with other music professionals in Nigeria. On the 6th of May, 2014, he debuted his Jay Pizzle-produced song ” Shake Body” as the first single off his debut album Man of the Year. The music video that accompanied the track was uploaded to YouTube on the 22nd of July, 2014.
CSS0_promoted the song with the announcement of his participation in the Shake Body video contest. The story was in the press that Skalessigned a recording agreement to Timaya‘s Dem Mama Records after his resignation from E.M.E. Then, in February 2014 Skalesdebunked the reports and stated that he didn’t have a contract for Dem Mama Records.

The Kaduna-born star’s 2009 song Heading for a Grammy was borne out of his experience and was actually inspired by American rapper Kanye West’s song Jesus Walks, which was released in 2004.
Personal Life
In December of 2011, Skaleswas involved in a crash with a car on the expressway Lekki Epe. The vehicle in which he was crashed into a ditch and then somersaulted. The accident killed one and injured three.
He was among a host of celebrities such as Davido as well as Super Eagles Player John Ogu to critique Desmond Elliot for pushing social media regulations in October of 2020.
