Akanbi Bamidele Brett (born on March 23, 1995) known by the stage name Cheque, is a Nigerian artist, singer, and rapper. Cheque is well-known throughout Nigeria because of his smash hit song “Zoom” which was released at the end of 2020. In 2021, Cheque received an award for the best duo of African HipHop during the All Africa Music Awards together with Fireboy DML. Cheque is currently signed to Phyno’s Penthauze label.

He has graduated from one of the world’s renowned universities in Nigeria, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife located within Osun State. In tertiary school, he obtained a B.Sc with a major in Chemical Engineering.

The entertainment and music industry is known to breathe new talent each day because the door is always open. and he utilized the space by breaking through.

When he was in the university’s undergraduate program He discovered his passion for music and embraced it. He started in the music industry as a musician with his nickname of Kyle B. His style of music was specifically Gospel hip-hop.

He attended the same institution as others like Blaqbonez and many others. While in his days of music under the name of Kyle B, he’s worked on Hennessy Cypher (Part VI) with the likes of Dark Poet, Kursor, Blaqbonez, Toosleek, and Eclipse.

While he is gaining popularity on campuses in the same way that Kyle B released an EP project that included Super Adventure Crew.

In February 2019, he was found through The Phynowho immediately offered him an agreement to record in conjunction with Penthauze Music.

In no time The following month, which was March, the birth month of the first single, an introduction song, Nyem Space was released to him which was an arrangement in collaboration with one artist who was signed to the label.

Cheque, whose music style is a blend of afrobeat with RnB, trap, rap as well as other genres that make him stand out from his fellow. While still well-known for Penthauze music He made his debut with Jekasoro( the Yoruba word meaning “Let’s talk”), Pain Away as well as Abundance.

On the 3rd of July in 2020 Cheque issued a work Razor EP (A five-track EP) that contained songs like Zoom, Loco, Satisfied, Odun, and Hollywood, with Zoom as the lead record. Zoom also includes a video that has been produced by TG Omori who is also called Boy Director and was shot in Lagos.
