Norwich City
Middleton began his time at the Norwich City Academy in 2012, and was able to graduate through their youth program. He was named the number 43 of the squad for the team’s first squad during the 2017-18 season. He was also selected in the squad as a substitute during an FA Cup 3rd round match against Southampton on the 18th of January, 2017.
Rangers
After finding his senior chances in the league limited in Norwich City, Middleton joined Rangers on January 31, 2018 and reunited with the former Canaries young manager Graeme Murty who was the Gers manager at the time of his signing.

2018-19
Under the leadership of Murty’s successor Steven Gerrard, Middleton made his first appearance in the competition for Rangers with a 2-0 win in the Europa League. Rangers over FK Shkupi in the Europa League on July 12, 2018. The match took place at Ibrox Stadium, with Middleton was widely praised for the performance he showed on his debut. Middleton scored his debut goal for Rangers when he made his debut as an extra in the 4-1 win over Dundee the following month. On October 26, Middleton signed a five-year contract with Rangers that binds with the team until 2023, the summer of his contract.

2019-20: Loans to Hibernian and Bradford
Middleton got loaned out to Hibernian in August of 2019. He played in eight games for Hibernian however, he did not make any appearances after the 30th of October. Then, the loan was terminated on the 27th of December. The loan was extended for the club of Bradford City on 31 January 2020 to continue the season.
