Zamfara Government Sacks Emir, District Head
The Zamfara state government has sacked the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Cika Ibrahim and the district head of Kanoma, Alhaji Ahmed Kanoma.
The two paramount leaders in the state were removed after their suspension which follows an allegation of being part of armed banditry in their respective domains.
The traditional leaders were sacked after the outcome of an investigation that probed their allegations.
This online news platform understands that the rulers were stripped off their positions and duties on Saturday after the committee established to investigate the matter concluded that they were culpable.
In a letter signed by the State Deputy Governor, Barrister Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, noted that the two monarchs were found wanting.
‘As such, the state government decided to remove them to serve as a deterrent to others,‘ the letter noted.
Recall that the two monarchs were manhandled by their subjects in July in Kanoma town, while the residents also called for their removal as at the time the state governor, Alhaji Bello Matawalle paid a condolence visit to the families of 32 persons killed by the bandits.
