Lil’ Kim (born July 11th, 1974) whose actual title is Kimberly Denise Jones is a talented American performer and reality TV persona. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, she began her career in music when she was discovered by the rapper the Notorious B.I.G.
The singer became famous in the mid-90s after their debut record “Hard Core” which was declared as double platinum through the RIAA. She has released four additional studio albums and also appeared on reality television shows, like America’s Top Dance Crew and the UK version of The Celebrity Apprentice.

Kimberly Denise Jones well-known by the name of Lil’ Kim was born in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant on the 11th of July 1974. She was the second daughter of a former U.S. marine, named Linwood Jones. She is the daughter of Ruby Mae Jones. Her brother is who is named Christopher Jones.
Lil’ Kim was a student at Queen of All Saints Elementary School in Brooklyn as a young child. Her parents separated at the age of nine old. She was taken care of by her father, with whom she shared turbulent relationships. When she was a teenager her father yanked her out of the house and she started living in the streets.
Lil’ Kim also was a student at Sarah J. Hale Vocational High School for two and two and a half years. There were many of her classmates at the school and she would often go to school together.
Because she was not finishing her degree, she decided to go to Brooklyn College Academy to finish her senior year as well as a half. It was the same school where fellow hip-hop stars Nas and Foxy Brown attended.
As a teenager, she came across Christopher Wallace, a.k.a, The Notorious B.I.G., who played a pivotal part in her life as well as her musical career.

The year 1994 was the time The Notorious B.I.G. was instrumental in introducing and promoting New York-based band Junior M.A.F.I.A., which included Jones who was just 19 and acted with his stage name Lil’ Kim. The album was released on the 29th of August, 1995 to mixed reviews and modest sales, but it was released at the number 8 spot in the U.S. Billboard 200 list, selling 69,000 copies in its debut week.
The notorious B.I.G. composed and ghost-wrote the majority of the lyrics for the album. The conspiracy was the result of three major singles: Player’s Anthem, I Need You Tonight, and Get Money. This conspiracy was certified gold by RIAA on the 6th of December 1995.
player’s Anthem along with “Get Money” were each given platinum and gold. Lil’ Kim‘s fame as a member of the Junior M.A.F.I.A. allowed her to start a solo career swiftly following the release of the Conspiracy album and she began to work to record her first album The Hard Core in late year of 1995.
Lil’ Kim began her solo career following an entire year in the Junior M.A.F.I.A. by making appearances as a guest on R&B records before the release of her first album the album Hard Core was released in November of 1996. More than 5 million copies were sold globally.
The RIAA certified the Hard Core in double platinum on the 14th of March 2001, having earlier certified it as gold on January 6, 1997, as well as platinum on the 3rd in 1997. The song that is the lead track, No Time the joint effort by Sean Combs and Sean Combs was a top hit on charts on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks chart and was certified as gold from the RIAA.
The following release came out as the track Crush on You which was a remix of the track that was in the compilation album Hard Core. Lil’ Kim collaborated with Missy Elliott, Angie Martinez, and Da Brat along with Left Eye (Lisa Lopes) of TLC on remixes of the album’s track Not Tonight which peaked at sixth place at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.
It was featured in the Martin Lawrence film Nothing to Lose soundtrack, was nominated for the Grammy Award, and was certified platinum. Lil’ Kim is the first female rapper to earn three consecutive top-three positions at the top of the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks list.

Lil’ Kim has had a number of relationships throughout the course of her existence. When she was in her teens she was courting Shawn Powell after seeing them in Brookly at Empire Roller Skating Rink in Brookly. The couple split following the time Shawn Powell was detained and sentenced to 8 years in prison for the robbery. They stayed in contact via correspondence. They also became engaged while he was in prison.
She dated the Notorious B.I.G. during this time and began to focus on her career in music. Then, she canceled her engagement to her friend Shawn Pwel and the two parted to separate ways.
In 1996 at the age of 22 years old, Lil’ Kim was reportedly pregnant with the Notorious B.I.G. The pregnancy remained in the shadows and, following the birth, made the decision to terminate her pregnancy. Based on reports the Notorious B.I.G called Lil’ Kim three days prior to his death to tell his love for her.
In a conversation on the show with Ed Lover on Power 105, Lil’ Kim admitted she was assaulted by the Notorious B.I.G. assaulted her and described an incident in which she was choked to unconsciousness by him. Then, in the year 2017, she acknowledged that their relationship with The Notorious B.I.G was “very violent” in the wake of Jermaine Dupri saying that he saw The Notorious B.I.G pull a pistol at Lil’ Kim.
