Interesting Interview about Kc Ejelonu Career
Why did you go into acting?
I’ve always wanted to become an actress from the time when I was a young girl. I would watch many films in my youth. I would watch the actresses on screen and think that this was the thing I would like to do in the future.
I remember, I watched Joke Silva a lot. Joke Silva is one of the extended families my mom has. I would confess to her that I wanted to be an actress, and she would encourage me to pursue my goal. However, my father was always insisting that I further my education to the point of becoming an academic doctor in a different field of study or a global businesswoman. I was awed by the likes of Joke Silva, Rita Dominic, Omotola Jolade Ekeinde, and Genevieve.
Why didn’t you begin your career as an actor in the UK?
It actually happened. I was invited to auditions. They scouted me for a role and wanted me to shed weight so that I could be the size of six. For any actor, this is a good idea, but losing weight to the size of a six-year-old for me wouldn’t be beneficial because I would be no flesh anymore. In addition, journalists across Britain United Kingdom are going to criticize you since I’ll appear sick. And in the film, the character was not sick. I don’t need to lose much weight for the part.
As for my first movie role, I’m not looking to be doing that. The film business in the UK isn’t comparable to the one in Nigeria as well as America. The United States of America. The movie industry in Nigeria and the US is far more prosperous than the ones in the UK. It takes many years for a black actor to earn a living in the UK. The thing I like about the film production industry here in Nigeria is that there’s enough space for everyone. It was, however, an extremely difficult decision and move to Nigeria when my family remains in the UK. I’m the only one living here, but I am loving it.
