Early Life

Folake Olowofoyeku was born on the 26th day of Oct. 1983. He was the son of Nigerian politicians Babatunji Olowofoyeku and Felicia Olowofoyeku in Lagos, Nigeria.

As a child, she was fortunate enough to be the smallest of 20 children born to Babatunji Olowofoyeku..

She grew up on Victoria Island Lagos, Nigeria but she spent the majority of her time in London.

Education

Folake Olowofoyeku was a student at the Montessori Boarding School in Benin City (Igbinedon Education Center) prior to her transfer to Vivian Fowler Memorial College for girls in Ikeja, Lagos.

She also went to Oxbridge Tutorial College.

In 2001, aged 18 she immigrated to America. United States where she stayed with her sister and went to City College of New York to pursue a degree in economics with the intention the possibility of becoming an attorney.

During her time at City College of New York, she was a player in NCAA Division III College basketball for the CCNT Beavers.

Career

When she finished college Folake Olowofoyeku began working at the Off-Broadway Theatre in New York City.
She also was a guest in the final season of Transparent. In addition, she was featured on the show in 2017’s Death Race 2050 as Minerva Jefferson.

In September 2019, Folake Olowofoyeku appeared on Chuck Lorre’s CBS comedy show, Bob Hearts Abishola and co-starred with American comedian, Billy Gardell. The sitcom was developed by Chucks Lorre together with British-Nigerian comedian Gina Yashere who plays the role that plays Kemi Folake’s best friend.

Folake Olowofoyeku is the character Abishola Abishola, the Nigerian nurse who has a meeting with a businessman called, Bobin Detroit The show follows two people who realize they share more than differences.

Music Career

Folake Olowofoyeku holds a degree in Audio Engineering from the Institute of Audio Research. She is an afrobeat electronic musician under the name – The FOLAKE. The singer also performs guitar and piano and has also been an engineer of sound.

The year 2013 was the last time she was included in 2 of David Bowie‘s videos, The Stars( Are Out Tonight) and The Next Day as his bassist. The videos were made by Sigismondi Floria.
