Police Arrest Protesters, Journalist, Others In Lagos

Security operatives have arrested a number of protesters and a Journalist who gathered at the National Stadium in Surulere for the ‘RevolutionNow’ march.

The security operatives comprise men of the Nigeria Police, the Depart of State Services, Nigeria Military amongst others arrested the journalist after failure to show any form of identification before he was arrested.

Meanwhile, the assistant commissioner of police for Lagos state, Tijani Fatai, has revealed why Nigeria police arrested some of the protesters earlier today.

According to ASP Fatai members of #RevolutionNow movement were dispersed from the National Stadium, Lagos, because they did not seek permission from the police before gathering.

The activists had converged on the stadium ahead of a nationwide protest. Addressing journalists after members of the movement were dispersed, Fatai justified the use of teargas in dislodging the protesters.
