Tiwa Savage started her career professionally at the age of sixteen years old. Her career was marked by her vocals that were featured in Chaka Khan Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli, and Ms. Dynamite’s songs.

To further her passion She took part in the UK version of the X Factor which was a finalist in the 24th spot. However, she was the 12th contestant to be removed from the talent show on TV.

Her first publishing contract in 2009 in 2009 with ATV/Sony Music Publishing. The agreement allowed her the rights to write for such artists as Babyface, Kat Deluna, Fantasia, Monica, and Mya.

Her return to Nigerian to continue her career in music received an enthusiastic reception, including an agreement to record for her with Mavin Records owned by Don Jazzy.

In December 2011, Savage co-hosted the second season of Nigerian Idol with IllRymz. Savage began her career as an actor along with Joke Silva and Ireti Doyle in the stage version of The For Coloured Girls. Savage created her own 323 Entertainment record label with her ex-manager and her partner Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun who she became engaged on the 5th of February 2013.

She was signed to Mavin Records in 2012 and was one of the leading performers on the compilation album Solar Plexus (2012). While studying at Berklee College of Music, she hung out alongside musicians Keith Harris, Derek Pate, Scott Coleman, Radar Ellis, and Darien Dorsey. When she spoke to journalist Brenda Pike, she said she worked alongside producers Chuck Harmony, Warren “Oak” Felder, and Warren “Oak” Felder Sossick and Sossick, among others. The singer said that her first studio album would feature songs from her native language. Savage was included in “Oyi,” a version of “Oyi” in 2012. Before she collaborated with Flavour she composed her version of the song herself.

In commemoration of 50 years of the nation’s Independence, Savage performed her rendition of ” Arise, O Compatriots” for the Ndani Sessions. Then, in November of 2012, she joined forces on the album with Waje, Praiz, Timi Dakolo, and Pamela Egoh on the Ovation Red Carol theme song “Higher”. Savage began working on her album debut Once Upon a Time in the year 2010. The album was released and she held a listening event at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi in May 2013.

At the event, she unveiled the full album’s tracklist and revealed Iceberg Slim, Sarkodie, and General Pype as her featured acts. The album was made available for sale to the Nigerian public on July 3, 2013. The album was released via iTunes the day prior to the official release. Savage called her album Once Upon a Time in order to tell positive aspects of her life.

She explained that she wanted to inspire emerging performers by telling them there was a time when she was a child in Isale Eko, who dreamed of becoming famous. The album was accompanied by seven singles” Kele Kele Love”, “Love Me (3x)”, “Without My Heart”, “Ife Wa Gbona”, “Folarin”, “Olorun Mi” and ” Eminado”. It also contains songs about politics such as “Middle Passage”, which is about the challenges faced by African men in a different country. Once Upon a Time was nominated for Best Album of the Year in the 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. The album was nominated as Best Pop/R&B Album in the Headies 2014. Savage is active in numerous initiatives for youth development and screening for breast cancer initiatives across Nigeria. She has raised money to support an organization that builds schools in her hometown. Savage signed an endorsement contract for MTN Nigeria in July 2013 estimated at N30 million. Also, she signed endorsement deals for Pepsi, Forte Oil and Maggi.
