Michael Oladapo Afolarin (born on the 1st of September 1993) is a renowned Nigerian professional model and actor popularly known as Mike Afolarin.

A Lagos-born Nollywood actor has been featured in numerous successful film productions in Nigeria.

 

Mike Afolarin became an international star when he played the part of Ishaya Bello in the Netflix Original Drama Series – Far From Home. Afolarin also works in the field of aerial photography and film a maker.

Early Life

Mike Afolarin was born in the family of Mr. as well as Mrs. Afolarin on the 1st of September, 1993. He was born at an open-to-all medical facility in Mainland Lagos. His parents registered his birth by giving him the initial Michael Oladapo Afolarin.

Though his birthplace was in Lagos, Mike Afolarin lived for the initial seven years of his life in the home of his grandparents located in Ibadan, Oyo State. When he reached the age of 7 and was able to leave the city that was once called Ibadan into Lagos State to live with his parents.

Career

Mike Afolarin beginnings in acting when he got a role in an on-stage production that was staged on campus. The play, titled “Magic Time was staged in 2013 and gave him his first acting experience. Following this stage production, he began to be fascinated by the Nigerian acting scene and started to participate in other stage productions.

Mike Afolarin has continued his passion for telling stories by entering the field of film production. He made the decision to become a filmmaker and is currently in charge of two film shorts: The Story Of An Interview as well as Peace. He was involved in a few films as an associate producer, an aerial photographer also, and a set artist. Notable highlights are Ajuwaya And Couple Of Days. The Assistant Director (AD) for the film short “The 3rd Rule”.

The year 2018 was the first time he served as an aerial cameraman along with director Lord Tanner on the Comprehensive Investment Documentary project for Oyo State Government (OYSG).

Mike Afolarin‘s breakthrough in the industry of Nollywood was after he was chosen as one of the main actors in the 2018 Comedy movie Kasala. It was his first cinema experience and he played the character of Chikodi. He performed alongside Chimezie Imo, Emeka Nwagbaraocha, and Tomiwa Tegbe.

In the year 2019, Mike Afolarin had more opportunities to act and was featured in a variety of short films made in Nigeria. Notable examples comprise The Blast That Never Ends, Fortunately, Ridiculous, and Stuck in the Deep Mud. He also landed a second part in the film produced by EbonyLife called The Excellency. He appeared alongside Nollywood veteran actors such as Funke Akindele, Akin Lewis as well as Shaffy Bello. He also appeared alongside Daniel Etim Effiong and Demola Adedoyin in the Africa Magic TV Series – Brethren. He was the character Kinto for the show.
