Chinedu Okoli (born 23rd November 1983) is a Nigerian Afrobeat star who is popularly known for performing under the nickname Flavor. The group is known as Flavour N’abania.

He is a songwriter, singer, and instrumentalist. He was in the spotlight when the release of his single Nwa Baby ( Ashawo Remix).

The flavor is the name of a band that has put out seven hit studio albums and is the co-founder of 2nite Music Group.

Early Life

Flavour was born into the Okolion family that included Mr. and Mrs. Okolion on the 23rd of November 1983. His parents gave him the name Chindu Okoli. The name of his father is Benjamin Okolie. There is also a younger brother called Okolie Chidera Emmanuel who is known under the name DJ Derekz.

He hails located in his home in the Southeastern part of Nigeria and is part of the Igbo tribe. The Igbo was raised and raised within Enugu State. But his hometown is Umunze situated in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Flavour was born into the privilege of Christian background and attended a Pentecostal church as a child. His musical career began at the age of 13 as he joined the church choir at the local church. He began his career as a drummer for the choir, before acquiring different instruments and becoming an accomplished musician.

Flavour started playing drums professionally while he was still in his teens. The first gig he had was working for a local music band that was based in Enugu. He also learned to perform the piano and played both instruments in the group. Following that, he got an invitation to play on stage at City Center, Enugu.

The singer-songwriter released his debut studio album entitled N’abania in the year 2005. The album was released when his contract was with Obiano Music, a record company. Obiano Music. The album was a bit popular and was well-received in the Southeastern region of Nigeria in comparison to other regions of the country.

Flavour aspired to make it into Nigeria’s mainstream music scene, so he took the time to improve his songwriting skills and perfect his sound. After a hiatus of five years and announced his second studio album, titled “Uplifted in the year 2010. In contrast to its predecessor, Uplifted was commercially successful across Nigeria as well as Africa. The project has popular songs like Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix), Adamma, and Oyi Remix with Tiwa Savage. It was made available by Lolhiphop Records.

Since his rise to the spotlight, Flavour has released four more studio albums. The Third album, Blessed, was released in 2012 under the banner of 2nite Entertainment. It was described as his most profitable and most ambitious project to date.

The singer in 2014 released a 22-track project called “Thankful”. The album contains popular songs like Ololufe (featuring Chidinma) and Wake Up (featuring Wande Coal). Thankful received praise from reviewers and was sold out across Nigeria and across the world.

His fifth and sixth albums were released in 2017 and 2020 respectively. The first, Ijele, is a 17-track album The latter album is called Flavor Of Africa and is composed of 16 tracks.

Flavour has performed with artists like Phyno, Diamond Platnumz, Fally Ipupa, Larry Gaaga, Theresa Onuorah, Pete Edochie, Semah G. Weifur P-Square, Umu Obiligbo, Zoro, Biggie Igba, Waga G and many more.
