D’banj  (born 9 June 1980) is more popularly known by the name D’banj a Nigerian musician, rapper, and businessman.

He is also an executive in the music industry who co-founded Mo”Hits Records” together with the producer Don Jazzy. He has been awarded numerous awards for his music, such as the ones for Best African Performer at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2007 and Musician of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009 as well as the Most Outstanding International Performer: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards, and the Best-selling African artist at 2015 World Music Awards, Evolution award at the 2015 MTV Africa Music awards.

Oyebanjoadopted as his Stage title D’banj is a blend of his initial surname, Dapo as well as his last name, Oyebanjo.

The singer is well-known for his 2012 summer smash ” Oliver Twist” the upbeat dance that combines Afrobeats as well as electronic music. He was the son of an officer father Daniel Oyebanjo who was the commander of an artillery unit and was a revered businesswoman from the church, Faith Olubukolola Oyebanjo (mother) who was from Shagamu in Ogun State.

He also has two twin who is brothers, Taiwo Oyebanjo and Kehinde Oyebanjo. His other siblings of his are Shola Oyebanjo and Femi Oyebanjo…

He graduated from Lagos State University. He was a student of Mechanical Engineering.

D’banj‘s debut album, No Long Thing was released in the year 2005. The album produced several singles and singles, with Tongoloas as the main single. It was the single that made him famous and became it was a huge smash. It also gave him the Koko Master persona as well as the word, Koko, being interpreted in a variety of meanings.

In July of 2008, D’banj released his 3rd album The Entertainer, with the singles “Gbono Feli Feli”, “Kimon”, “Olorun Maje” and “Entertainer”.

In June 2011, D’banj was signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music record label as an artist. 9 June 2011 The rapper posted on his Twitter account, @iamdbanj “Just as yesterday, me as well as my brother played the Tongolo. Seven years later Mo’Hits makes his debut with GOOD Music. Best Birthday gift ever. God, I thank you.

In September 2016, it was announced that D’banj was dropped from GOOD Music.

The album was released by the artist King Don Come, with guests from the likes of Gucci Mane Wande Coal Harrysong, Bucie, Busiswa, and more. in August. The album features singles like It’s Not A LiesEl Chapo, and his 2012 massive hit Oliver Twist.

Alongside D’banj‘s debut album, he received the first time he was endorsed by an energy drink known as the Power Fist. In May 2013 D’banj was appointed to be the Bank of Industry (BOI) ambassador.

In November 2013 D’banj signed a multi-million-Naira contract with Globacom which was the company that he broke off within the year. He signed a deal with the company in June 2014. signed an agreement to sign a deal with Heritage Bank.

He married Lineo Didi Kilgrow in June 2016. He confirmed that they were expecting their first child, Daniel Oyebanjo III in May 2017 The child drowned in June 2018.

D’banj was once in a relationship with Nollywood actor Genevieve Nnaji…

In June 2020, following D’banj made a post on social networks in order to “say no to rape,” Seyitan Babatayo accused him of raping her in the year 2018, saying that she was going to “[call] him out on his hypocrisy.”

Then she disappeared for two days. when she disappeared the posts on her social networks claimed that it was an attempt to gain publicity for the coming D’banjsingle. In the words of The Guardian, she was located with help from the non-profit organization Stand to End Rape (STER).

She claimed she was abducted by Nigerian police, who handed the girl over to the D’banj‘s Management team. The team took over her social media account and created the retractions. D’banj has denied the allegations and called the allegations “false allegations and lies from the pit of hell.” After a few days, Babatayoissued an announcement that the two of them D’banj had reached a “non-monetary” settlement, saying, “I just want my peace.”

On July 3, 2020 D’banj sued Babatayofor N1.5 billion. Then, D’banj‘s former manager Franklin Amudo reported that Babatayohad said that D’banj had raped her that day following the incident.

The 42-year-old singer-songwriter was a guest speaker at the “Bliss Experience,” an event at the church held by Moses Bliss, the musician.

In June of 2018, Dbanj and Lineo Didi Kilgrow and his wife grieved Daniel Oyebanjo III‘s loss of their infant son who was just one year old. The boy was believed to drowned in the swimming pool of the singer’s residence at Ikoyi, Lagos. The couple was delighted to welcome their second baby Zane Oyebanjo.

The tragic incident was recalled by him declaring that God has redeemed his faith by giving him not just two, but one.

“What I meant to say was that I’m born to be born again. When I declared that Jesus has become Koko, I meant it. Koko, I intended to mean that. If anyone has any information about my story, on every album I’ve made I always show respect to the person who deserves honor,” he can be heard saying.

“I am always aware of the origin of where I am. Three years ago I was devastated by the loss of my son. However, I was blessed when the Lord brought me back. You’d tell people things but they don’t understand because they believe that you aren’t aware of what you’re going through.
