Kogi State Deputy Governor Faces Impending Impeachment

Investigative Journalists Complete Investigation In Yahaya Bello's Kogi

Simon Achuba, deputy governor of Kogi state faces threats of impeachment as the state house of assembly have commenced the proceedings to remove him from the seat.

Today, a petition was read to the house against Achuba, by the majority leader of the house, Abdullahi Bello
He also stated that the signatures of 21 of the 25 lawmakers have been collected for the impeachment.

The member who represents Ajaokuta constituency cited section 188 of 1999 constitution

He thereafter prayed the house to commence investigation ahead of the impeachment of the deputy governor.

The speaker of the house of assembly, Kolawole Matthew, agreed to the prayers in the petition

He further asked that impeachment notice be served to Achuba, after giving him 14 days to respond to the allegations leveled against him.

Achuba had accused Yahaya Bello, governor of the state, of not paying his allowances in the last two years.

He said he is being owed N819 million in salaries and allowances. Achuba also said the governor was after his life, an allegation which Bello denied.
