FCT : Over 10,000 BRT Buses Are Missing In Abuja, Rep

The House of Representatives says it will examine the disappearance of transit buses provided by the federal government for transport services within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

This followed the adoption of a signal by Ikenna Elezieanya (PDP-Imo) at the plenary on Tuesday in Abuja.

Driving the motion, he stated that from 2003 to 2007, 5,000 (five thousand ) buses were equipped to help government employees in accessing their seats within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He said that from 2010 to 2014, an extra 5,000 (five thousand) buses were supplied by the government for the easy transport of civil servants.

All the buses, amounting to 10,000, were slowly disappearing from the roads and were being badly managed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) governance, says . Elezieanya.

The lawmaker added that this had led to the scheme not accomplishing its objective of alleviating the transport challenges of the masses, mainly in these trying moments.

He said the citizens who were denied these services were daily faced with the risk of riding in commercial vehicles operated by kidnappers, armed thieves Terrorists, and bandits.

He said that there was a need to retrieve the buses and make them work to serve the core purposes for which they were provided.

The House, therefore, directed the Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to examine the alleged disappearance of the buses and report back within three weeks
